Nikki Haley’s Republican presidential campaign said it had a $1.2 million increase in donations in one day after former President Donald Trump vowed to blacklist Haley’s donors.
“Trump’s plan has blown up in his face,” Haley spokeswoman AnnMarie Graham-Barnes said in a news release Thursday evening announcing the surge in fundraising.
The former U.N. ambassador’s campaign said it has raised a total of $2.6 million since the polls closed in Tuesday’s New Hampshire primary, which Trump won by more than 11 points.
Despite losing to Trump in perhaps her most competitive state, Haley is vowing to stay in the race in her home state of South Carolina, where she served as governor. But polls in the Palmetto State show Haley well behind Trump.
Trump, who cemented his status as the front-runner after winning the first two presidential nomination contests, has grumbled about continuing to spend campaign funds to fend off Haley, which could be used to challenge President Joe Biden in a general election.
On Wednesday evening, Trump increased the pressure on Haley by targeting her donors.
“When I ran for office and won, I noticed that the losing candidate’s ‘donors’ immediately came to me and wanted to ‘help out,'” he wrote in a Truth Social post.
“This is standard in politics, but no longer for me,” Trump wrote. “Anyone who ‘contributes’ to Birdbrain from this moment on will be permanently expelled from the MAGA camp.”

“We don’t want them and we won’t accept them because we put America first and ALWAYS will!” Trump wrote.
Haley responded directly to this post by posting a link to her fundraising page. Their campaign also began selling t-shirts that read “BARRED. PERMANENTLY.” on the front.
“Donald Trump’s threats highlight the difficult choice in this election: personal revenge or true conservative leadership,” Graham-Barnes said in Thursday’s statement.
“Trump’s plan blew up in his face. Donations to the Haley campaign are pouring in – proof that people are tired of the drama and are rallying behind Nikki’s vision of a strong and proud America.”
The $2.6 million profit was revealed after The New York Times reported that the top super PAC backing Haley said it had $50.1 million in the second half of 2023 raised, exceeding the amount raised by Trump’s main super PAC during the same period.
