The Trump campaign announced Friday that it nearly doubled its one-day fundraising after a New York jury found Donald Trump guilty in his hush money trial.
The Republican campaign said it raised $34.8 million from small donors in less than seven hours after Thursday afternoon’s historic verdict convicting Trump of 34 counts of falsifying business records.
Nearly 30% of those donors were brand new to the Trump fundraising site WinRed, senior campaign advisers Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles said in a news release.
Top aides reiterated Trump’s promise after the trial that the “real verdict” would come on Election Day, Nov. 5.
It is all but guaranteed that Trump will enter this contest as the first former U.S. president and first major party candidate ever convicted of crimes.
He is on track to be elected as the official Republican presidential candidate just days after his conviction.
The Trump campaign told NBC News that its latest fundraising numbers only include donations sent between Thursday’s verdict and midnight, and that it does not include anything received after 12 p.m. ET on Friday.
The massive gain comes less than two weeks after Trump reported higher monthly fundraising income than his rival, President Joe Biden, for the first time in 2024.
