A Bay Area man has been arrested on suspicion of killing his wife after the pair left their Fairfield home on Valentine’s Day.

Greg Hobson, 61, and Anu Anand Hobson, 53, were reported missing on Feb. 15 by an unnamed individual who had “concerns over their safety,” Fairfield police spokesperson Jennifer Brantley told KCRA. As investigators combed traffic cameras for the couple’s silver 2021 Toyota Tacoma, they said they got a hit on the vehicle on Elk Grove Boulevard in Sacramento. Police issued a missing persons report for the Hobsons.

A day later, though, they had Greg Hobson in custody on suspicion of killing his wife: Officers spotted Hobson in his silver Tacoma in Fairfield on Feb. 16, and booking records show he was arrested at Walters Road and East Tabor Ave.

“Anu has not been found and, based on evidence collected thus far, police believe she has been killed,” police said in a statement.

Hobson is being held at the Justice Center Detention Facility and has been charged with one count of murder. He is due in court on Tuesday.

“Anyone who may have seen Greg Hobson, Anu Anand Hobson, or witnessed any suspicious activity involving a 2021 Toyota Tacoma, license plate 21170G3, is asked to call the Fairfield Police Department’s Investigations Unit at 707-428-7600,” police said. “No additional information will be released at this time to preserve the integrity of the ongoing investigation.”
